Brief course description
This course gives you a simple process for writing an effective piece of music. It starts with basic building blocks of melody, harmony and rhythm and looks at how to go from the first spark of an idea to a complete finished piece. The course is the conclusions drawn from 30 years of my working life doing this every day scoring films and television. Although I am looking at writing music here, you can apply everything here to improve your songwriting as well.
This started when a musician with a doctorate in musicology asked me if our courses teach you how to actually write music. In all her long education, nobody had ever sat her down and said this is how it works. This is what we are doing here. So whether you are writing music already, whether you have a doctorate or no music theory at all, whether you want to write songs or just come up with a tune to give your granny for Christmas, this is the course you need. There are extra bonus lessons on basic music theory, how this applies to music technology and DAWs and a lot of more in depth harmony stuff…OK I got a bit carried away.
