The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course review for 2026

In our review of this course, we try to help you answer all of your most important questions about The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course as quickly and efficiently as possible, so that you can determine whether this online education training is worth your time and money.

Feel free to jump to whatever question you want answered the most.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

Why use TCITMTC as an abbreviation of the course name?

During our The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course course review, you might sometimes see us refer to it as TCITMTC for the following 2 reasons:

  1. We created the acronym by taking the first letter of every word (which was very ingenious and innovative, we know)
  2. We’re lazy and TCITMTC is simpler and easier for reviewing purposes

The full course name is 48 characters long, including blanks, while TCITMTC is 7 characters long.

You do the math.

Okay, we’ll do the math. We’re saving 41 characters every time we use TCITMTC.

So, just a heads up that we’ll be using this abbreviation sometimes, so you’re not left scratching your head and wondering what the heck we’re talking about whenever we refer to TCITMTC throughout the remainder of this review.

Is the The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course course for you?

To determine whether Matthew Carano’s Udemy course is a good fit for you or not, ask yourself the following questions down below.

The more you answer “yes” to each question, the more likely it is that you’ll like this course.

Can you understand what Matthew Carano’s course is about in 30 seconds or less?

Hopefully, you can easily grasp in 10 seconds or less what this online course is about simply by taking a look at the title that Matthew Carano chose for the course, “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course”, as well as its subtitle: “Intervals, Scales, And Chords From The Ground Up”.

This combo of title and subtitle should be enough to communicate the purpose of the training if Matthew Carano is a good, clear communicator (which, of course, you want in a teacher).

In our opinion, if you still don’t know what TCITMTC is about after looking at these two things, then this is a red flag, and you might be better off not taking this class.

Among other things, it means Matthew Carano hasn’t clearly and accurately conveyed what the course is about and might not be the best teacher for you.

For similar reasons, it’s important that you’re able to clearly understand what The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course is all about from the first few lines of the course description.

So take just a few seconds to read the opening lines down below and see what you think of them.

Does TCITMTC pass the 30 Seconds Test?

You can read a lot more about The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course on the official course page on Udemy, but the point is this: are the title, subtitle, and just the first few lines of the description enough to help you understand what the course is about?

If so, Matthew Carano has done a good job and can be considered more trustworthy and a good communicator, which are important qualities for any teacher.

And, if not, maybe you’re better off looking at other Music classes that are more clearly defined and more tailored to your specific interests.

Did The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course appeal to you in 30 seconds or less?

Now that you’ve done the 30 Second Test with TCITMTC above, what is your gut reaction to this Music course with only the basic information of its title, subtitle, and the first few opening lines of its official course summary?

Did Matthew Carano do a good job conveying its subject matter, and did it immediately get your attention and appeal to you?

If so, Matthew Carano’s online course is certainly worth considering some more.

But if not, perhaps it’s in your best interest to consider some other Music courses instead, because clear communication and being able to hook and maintain your interest are two very important qualities for your online learning success.

Does Matthew Carano sound like a course instructor you’d like to learn from?

You’ve already learned how to use The 30 Second Test to make a quick evaluation of whether the TCITMTC course is worth taking.

We have a similar 15 Second Bio Test where you read only the first few lines of an instructor’s background — in this case, Matthew Carano’s background — and then you make a quick, snap judgment as to whether you think the instructor would be ideal for you.

There is no right or wrong answer. It’s just about going with your gut instinct. What might appeal to one potential student might alienate another, and vice versa.

(FYI, all Udemy instructors, including Matthew Carano, have a Udemy profile on their course page, so you can easily check for a bio and background on the Udemy website that way. We’re only including the first few lines of the bio down below for The 15 Second Bio Test).

Opening lines from Matthew Carano’s Udemy bio

Matthew Carano is the creator of The Music Class, a series of courses built to teach music fundamentals like theory and ear training, from the ground up. Matt is a musician and educator who believes strongly that learning music creates positive developmental changes in both children and adults. And that learning music fundamentals greatly enhances a student’s ability to perform and create.; Why are 135,000+ students enrolled in our Udemy courses?

(Learn more about this instructor on the official course page.)

What did you think about Matthew Carano after reading just the first few lines of the bio above?

After reading just the first few lines about Matthew Carano, did it make you more or less interested in taking the TCITMTC course?

And did it make you feel like Matthew Carano was more or less credible and qualified to teach The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course?

Finally, overall, did you feel like you’d receive the proper training from the instructor of this Music course?

As always, we encourage you to listen to your gut instinct, which is different for every student.

Are the TCITMTC lessons clear, specific, and organized well?

Part of the (good) problem with Udemy’s online courses, such as the The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course course, is that the instructors are constantly updating them, including adding and renaming lessons.

So it makes no sense whatsoever for us to list out all the modules and lessons in the TCITMTC course here, because you can just as easily go to the Udemy course page and get all the up to date course structure as of right now.

We do, however, have some tips about reviewing Matthew Carano’s course structure, so that you can get a better sense of whether this program is worth your time or not.

In a nutshell, you want to scan the the titles of the different sections and lessons of the course, and verify that they are clearly relevant to the course’s name, The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course, as well as the course’s subtitle, Intervals, Scales, And Chords From The Ground Up.

If the section names and lessons are clear, specific, and relevant, then it’s a good sign that TCITMTC is potentially a good, useful course for you, and you can have more confidence in Matthew Carano’s teaching abilities and lesson planning.

On the other hand, if the module names are confusing, vague, or irrelevant, then this is a red flag, which might indicate that the program is worth skipping.

Have you taken some free lessons from Matthew Carano that you enjoyed?

Have you already learned something from Matthew Carano that you valued or enjoyed?

For example, does the The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course training have some free lessons that you can try? (Almost all Udemy instructors will give you at least one or two lessons for free to help you make a better, more informed decision before enrolling in their course.)

But if you weren’t able to get any TCITMTC lessons for free, have you perhaps watched a YouTube video by Matthew Carano, or perhaps come across this instructor’s thoughts on Quora, Facebook, LinkedIn, Github, Reddit, or some other platform?

Or have you perhaps even taken one of Matthew Carano’s free courses or free webinars? (Many online teachers offer these freebies, which is a great way to get to know them and evaluate their teaching methods before buying one of their courses.)

In any case, the more familiar you are with Matthew Carano’s teaching methods, and the more you enjoy them, the more likely it is that The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course will be a good fit for you.

(P.S.: We strongly encourage you to seek out some free instruction from Matthew Carano before purchasing this course, since it’s one of the best ways to determine whether TCITMTC will be helpful for you.)

Are “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course” reviews generally positive?

On the bottom of the TCITMTC page, you can read student reviews of the class.

Prior to April 24, 2026, there were 724 students enrolled, 281 reviews / ratings, and it was overall rated 4.7 out of 5.

Obviously, the more highly other students rate TCITMTC the better, but no matter what, keep an open mind when reading the reviews, since you might still like a course a great deal that other students dislike.

After all, everyone’s got their own opinion.

We recommend that you spend only a couple minutes scanning the TCITMTC reviews to get an overall sense of them. You don’t have to read each one!

Is Matthew Carano responsive to student questions in the TCITMTC training?

You can see what other students have to say about this in their TCITMTC reviews.

But, our simple all time favorite way of gauging an instructor’s responsiveness is to simply email the instructor and see if or how they respond.

In this case, Udemy has a messaging system for students / anyone who has an account, and you can send Matthew Carano a message through this system quite easily, even if you haven’t bought TCITMTC yet.

For example, you could say, “Hi, and I came across TCITMTC while looking at Music courses on Udemy. If I enroll in your training, would you mind if I asked you any questions along the way?”

If you use this approach, the response (or lack of response) from the professor will tell you everything.

Obviously, the quicker the response the better!

Are you comfortable going through the lessons in The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course on your own, online?

This is a big one, because The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course is an online course as opposed to a course that you physically take in a classroom.

Of course, you will need a good internet connection to have access to the course material and lessons, but beyond that, you also have to be comfortable being self motivated to some degree, being on your own, and not having any physical interaction with any of the other students taking The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course.

Yes, you will be able to interact with the students and the teacher, Matthew Carano, online, but it’s a different kind of experience than what you’d get if you were interacting with them in person.

This is not a big deal to most people, but it might be something for you to consider if you feel like you do better taking classes in person rather than learning online.

Do the pros / benefits of TCITMTC make it worth your time?

Ideally, if you’ve gone through the evaluation steps above, you have a list of positive things about the The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course training that looks something like this:

  • The purpose of TCITMTC can be clearly grasped and understood, and its lesson structure is clear, specific, and well organized
  • Matthew Carano is well qualified to teach this subject matter, has good teaching abilities, and is responsive to student questions
  • Other TCITMTC students have great things to say about the program

Other benefits include:

  • You get to go through TCITMTC at your own pace
  • You join a community of 724 other students taking the course
  • You get lifetime access to the training
  • All updates to the training are free
  • You have a 30 day money back guarantee

Even if there are some things that you don’t like about the program, so what?

The question is simply this: do you think that TCITMTC would be worth your time, even if there are some things that could be better about it?

Can you comfortably afford TCITMTC?

Can you comfortably afford the cost of The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course?

This is an important question to answer, because even if you think TCITMTC sounds like the greatest online class in the world, it’s still not worth taking if you can’t comfortably afford it!

Before April 24, 2026, the price was $12.99 before any Udemy discount, and you were able to pay with a credit card.

Keep in mind that this is a Udemy online course, and there’s a great chance that you can get a solid discount on TCITMTC with Udemy coupons / promo codes, especially with the strategies we provide for helping you find the best, most popular coupons available.

We’ll cover that in greater detail in the next section, because at the end of the day, its important that you can learn whatever you want to learn without getting into a lot of credit card debt.

How can you maximize your discount on The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course?

By far, the easiest way to get the best and biggest discount on this course is to use the The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course discount code link at the top of this page.

It will instantly give you the best coupon code we could find for Matthew Carano’s online training.

We don’t believe there’s a bigger discount than the one we provided, but if for some reason you’d like to try find one, you can use the methods below to hunt for the best TCITMTC course coupons and promo codes you can find.

FYI, the methods below will help you not just with getting TCITMTC for a better price, but also with any other Matthew Carano Udemy course that you’d like to get for cheaper.

How can Google help you get a TCITMTC discount?

To use this method, do a Google search for the TCITMTC training, but in your search query, be sure to add words like coupon code, promo code, deal, sale, discount, and Udemy.

For example, you might do a search for “Udemy The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course promo code” or “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course udemy coupon codes” and see what turns up.

Similarly, you can use the same combination of search terms with Matthew Carano’s name and see what happens.

For example, you might do a Google search for “Matthew Carano Udemy coupons” or “Matthew Carano course coupon codes” and see if that helps you.

However, in general, it’s far more powerful to do a search for deals and coupon codes with the actual training’s name, than with the instructor’s name.

So in this case, for example, prioritize searches for “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course coupons” rather than “Matthew Carano coupons”.

How can a Udemy sale get you TCITMTC for cheaper?

Every once in while, Udemy will do a sitewide sale where they offer all (or almost all) their courses at a discounted price. For example, one of the best sales is where every course is only $10 or $9.99.

So, if you’re interested in saving as much money as possible, you could wait and see if you can get TCITMTC for this cheaper Udemy sale price one day.

The problem is that these sales only occur sporadically, so you might be waiting for a while. Also, if Matthew Carano decides not to participate in the site wide sale, then you won’t get a discount on TCITMTC, even though you could get a great discount on almost any other class at Udemy!

To understand this, think of there as being two different coupon categories for the TCITMTC course. Category one is an official Udemy coupon (which instructors can opt out of), while category two is a coupon offered directly by the instructor.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what kind of a coupon tag you’re dealing with (for example, “officially from Udemy” or “officially from the instructor”), as long as long as as you’re dealing with active coupons that get you a better price.

How can you get a TCITMTC discount from Matthew Carano?

If you’re really serious about getting “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course” for the cheapest price possible, then perhaps one of the most powerful things you can do is get a coupon code straight from Matthew Carano, instead of waiting for a Udemy sale.

To do this, you can use either the direct approach or an indirect approach to try to get your discount.

With the direct approach, the big idea is to simply get Matthew Carano’s contact info in some way or another (whether it’s email, or Twitter, or whatever else).

Then you send a message saying something like “I’m interested in enrolling in The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course. Do you happen to currently have an active coupon code for it that I could use?” (And then, hopefully, you’ll get a reply with your discount code.)

On the other hand, with the indirect approach, you join Matthew Carano’s mailing list, if you can find it, and then you hope that at some time TCITMTC will be promoted to you at a discount.

By far, the more powerful approach is the direct approach, because it tends to get results faster. But you can experiment with the indirect approach and see if it works for you.

Can you get TCITMTC for free?

Of course, the best possible price for the TCITMTC training is free! As in, you pay no money whatsoever.

And guess what? Sometimes Udemy instructors provide coupon codes that enable students to take their courses for free. So, perhaps it’s possible that Matthew Carano has done this.

Basically, if you’re trying to get this program for free, you will want to search for the course’s name along with other words like free coupon, or 100 off coupon.

For example, you might do a google search for “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course free coupon” or “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course 100 off coupon” and see what happens.

But keep this in mind: often, Udemy teachers will offer a free coupon for their course when it first opens to get some publicity and reviews. And then, after a few days, they’ll make the coupon expired.

So even Matthew Carano has offered free coupons for TCITMTC in the past, the odds are likely they will all be currently expired. This is a common pattern that we have found.

What about a TCITMTC free download?

It’s important to understand that there’s a difference between getting full access to the TCITMTC training for free legally with a free coupon code vs. finding a way to download TCITMTC illegally.

If you really want to go the download route, you can do a google search for something like “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course download”.

And if that doesn’t get you the results you want, you can add the word “free” to your search.

For example, perhaps you could do a google search for “The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course free download”.

However, even if you get some results from these searches, we do not recommend that you take this course of action.

First of all, there are some shady sites out there that could be trying to infect your computer.

Second, Matthew Carano created this course and deserves monetary compensation for it.

And third, if you go the free download route, you’ll be missing out on a lot of value, because you won’t be able to ask the instructor questions or interact with the other 724 students enrolled in the program.

Can you get a refund on The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course if you don’t like it?

Let’s say that you used our tips above, and you were able to buy the TCITMTC training at a fantastic discounted price. So at this point, you’re super excited.

Then, you actually dive into Matthew Carano’s course, and you discover that it just isn’t for you for whatever reason.

And now you’re super bummed, because you feel like it wasn’t money well spent.

Well, guess what?

Udemy offers a rock solid 30 day money back guarantee on all their courses, so you can get a refund on TCITMTC no matter what. And this means there is absolutely no risk.

Indeed, even if you left a super negative, critical review on the TCITMTC training, and then asked for your money back, you’d get a refund. For better or worse, there’s nothing Matthew Carano could do about it, since it is simply Udemy policy.

To sum it up: yes, you can get a full refund, so at the end of the day, don’t worry about the possibility of purchasing TCITMTC and not liking it, since you can always get your money back.

What is OCP’s overall rating of The Complete Introduction To Music Theory Course?

During this TCITMTC review, you’ve learned about some of the unusual ways we like to evaluate courses, such as with The 30 Second Test and The 15 Second Bio Test.

So our overall review process is perhaps a little unusual and different from other reviews out there. Keep this in mind when you consider the overall rating / score that we have given this course.

Anyway, after taking a look at the TCITMTC training, the instructor, Matthew Carano, and reading what other students have said about this program, we give it an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5.

Ultimately, though, what matters most is what you would rate it based on the same criteria.

Joseph Evans Jr bio

Joseph Evans Jr better known as EVAJ MUSIC is an ASCAP Accredited Music Producer, Composer, & Songwriter. His music is licensed to several major networks such as MTV, VH1, TruTV, Bravo, on shows such as “Real Housewives”, “Love & HipHop Atlanta”, “Fuse News”, “Hardcore Pawn”, and “Guy Court”. He has also worked with several independent artists over the past 10 years.; Lee Evans “The Write Hook”, also known as the recording artist MUG$ Amillion, was raised in the Music Capitol of the world, Nashville, TN, where he was introduced to the music industry at the tender age of 8 years old by way of being a background dancer for a local cover band. From there he grew into performing cover songs as a member of his own self-established group, followed by writing lyrics for original songs, and recording original music, all by the age of 15. After achievements as a local powerhouse performer and recording artist, Lee entered Nashville State’s Music Technology Program, where he developed an extreme interest in music publishing, songwriting, and the business of music. Shortly after graduating, he shifted both his musical passion and location to Atlanta, GA in 2010. Since his internship at Icon Studios ATL, MUG$ has established himself on a few different levels of the music industry through various roles, by becoming a songwriter, producer, music publisher for SESAC, BMI, and ASCAP, and more recently, a music consultant. He is an active Recording Academy member, serving on the membership committee for the Atlanta Chapter, and has landed current TV placements with BET as well as Oxygen Network. Furthermore, after putting together a very empowering and highly successful 2014 A3C Hip Hop Festival panel covering topics such as music publishing, music licensing, and songwriting to name a few, his willingness to educate more people of the business side to the music industry grew stronger. Being grounded by the bible book of Proverbs combined with a gift and passion for music and speaking, this well rounded artist was led to be a giver of what he has been blessed to receive through his experiences and education of the music business, thus we have The Music Industry Crash Course, better known as The MICC.

Brief course description

Vocal riffs and runs are a skill that most of today’s top selling Pop, R&B and Gospel vocalists seem to have mastered. They’re often performed quickly and expressively. Riffs and runs add artistic flair to a vocal performance.

This program is designed to give musicians vocalists introductory exposure to riffs and runs. It begins with a brief introduction explaining, with demonstrations, the difference between a “riff” and a “run”.

The introduction is followed by a systematic, progressive explanation of the pentatonic scale and its 5 inversions. The exercises themselves are in the key of D major and the listener can choose a lower octave than demonstrated depending on his/her preference.

Feel free to jump to whatever question you want answered the most.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

Why use GMCMMFGFS as an abbreviation of the course name?

During our Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch course review, you might sometimes see us refer to it as GMCMMFGFS for the following 2 reasons:

  1. We created the acronym by taking the first letter of every word (which was very ingenious and innovative, we know)
  2. We’re lazy and GMCMMFGFS is simpler and easier for reviewing purposes

The full course name is 57 characters long, including blanks, while GMCMMFGFS is 9 characters long.

You do the math.

Okay, we’ll do the math. We’re saving 48 characters every time we use GMCMMFGFS.

So, just a heads up that we’ll be using this abbreviation sometimes, so you’re not left scratching your head and wondering what the heck we’re talking about whenever we refer to GMCMMFGFS throughout the remainder of this review.

Is the Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch course for you?

To determine whether Karleen Heong’s Udemy course is a good fit for you or not, ask yourself the following questions down below.

The more you answer “yes” to each question, the more likely it is that you’ll like this course.

Can you understand what Karleen Heong’s course is about in 30 seconds or less?

Hopefully, you can easily grasp in 10 seconds or less what this online course is about simply by taking a look at the title that Karleen Heong chose for the course, “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch”, as well as its subtitle: “Learn to compose music for any and every type of video game, from complete beginner to competent game music composer”.

This combo of title and subtitle should be enough to communicate the purpose of the training if Karleen Heong is a good, clear communicator (which, of course, you want in a teacher).

In our opinion, if you still don’t know what GMCMMFGFS is about after looking at these two things, then this is a red flag, and you might be better off not taking this class.

Among other things, it means Karleen Heong hasn’t clearly and accurately conveyed what the course is about and might not be the best teacher for you.

For similar reasons, it’s important that you’re able to clearly understand what Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch is all about from the first few lines of the course description.

Does GMCMMFGFS pass the 30 Seconds Test?

If so, Karleen Heong has done a good job and can be considered more trustworthy and a good communicator, which are important qualities for any teacher.

And, if not, maybe you’re better off looking at other Music classes that are more clearly defined and more tailored to your specific interests.

Did Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch appeal to you in 30 seconds or less?

Now that you’ve done the 30 Second Test with GMCMMFGFS above, what is your gut reaction to this Music course with only the basic information of its title, subtitle, and the first few opening lines of its official course summary?

Did Karleen Heong do a good job conveying its subject matter, and did it immediately get your attention and appeal to you?

If so, Karleen Heong’s online course is certainly worth considering some more.

But if not, perhaps it’s in your best interest to consider some other Music courses instead, because clear communication and being able to hook and maintain your interest are two very important qualities for your online learning success.

Does Karleen Heong sound like a course instructor you’d like to learn from?

You’ve already learned how to use The 30 Second Test to make a quick evaluation of whether the GMCMMFGFS course is worth taking.

We have a similar 15 Second Bio Test where you read only the first few lines of an instructor’s background — in this case, Karleen Heong’s background — and then you make a quick, snap judgment as to whether you think the instructor would be ideal for you.

There is no right or wrong answer. It’s just about going with your gut instinct. What might appeal to one potential student might alienate another, and vice versa.

(FYI, all Udemy instructors, including Karleen Heong, have a Udemy profile on their course page, so you can easily check for a bio and background on the Udemy website that way. We’re only including the first few lines of the bio down below for The 15 Second Bio Test).

Opening lines from Karleen Heong’s Udemy bio

I’m Karleen, a composer, musician, teacher, programmer and more. I started playing piano when I was 4 and wrote my first composition when I was 15. I taught myself how to play the electric guitar at 14 and spent all my spare time playing hard rock and heavy metal music. I reverted to classical music in university and studied the classical guitar and Japanese flute.

What did you think about Karleen Heong after reading just the first few lines of the bio above?

After reading just the first few lines about Karleen Heong, did it make you more or less interested in taking the GMCMMFGFS course?

And did it make you feel like Karleen Heong was more or less credible and qualified to teach Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch?

Finally, overall, did you feel like you’d receive the proper training from the instructor of this Music course?

As always, we encourage you to listen to your gut instinct, which is different for every student.

Are the GMCMMFGFS lessons clear, specific, and organized well?

Part of the (good) problem with Udemy’s online courses, such as the Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch course, is that the instructors are constantly updating them, including adding and renaming lessons.

So it makes no sense whatsoever for us to list out all the modules and lessons in the GMCMMFGFS course here, because you can just as easily go to the Udemy course page and get all the up to date course structure as of right now.

We do, however, have some tips about reviewing Karleen Heong’s course structure, so that you can get a better sense of whether this program is worth your time or not.

In a nutshell, you want to scan the the titles of the different sections and lessons of the course, and verify that they are clearly relevant to the course’s name, Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch, as well as the course’s subtitle, Learn to compose music for any and every type of video game, from complete beginner to competent game music composer.

If the section names and lessons are clear, specific, and relevant, then it’s a good sign that GMCMMFGFS is potentially a good, useful course for you, and you can have more confidence in Karleen Heong’s teaching abilities and lesson planning.

On the other hand, if the module names are confusing, vague, or irrelevant, then this is a red flag, which might indicate that the program is worth skipping.

Have you taken some free lessons from Karleen Heong that you enjoyed?

Have you already learned something from Karleen Heong that you valued or enjoyed?

For example, does the Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch training have some free lessons that you can try? (Almost all Udemy instructors will give you at least one or two lessons for free to help you make a better, more informed decision before enrolling in their course.)

But if you weren’t able to get any GMCMMFGFS lessons for free, have you perhaps watched a YouTube video by Karleen Heong, or perhaps come across this instructor’s thoughts on Quora, Facebook, LinkedIn, Github, Reddit, or some other platform?

Or have you perhaps even taken one of Karleen Heong’s free courses or free webinars? (Many online teachers offer these freebies, which is a great way to get to know them and evaluate their teaching methods before buying one of their courses.)

In any case, the more familiar you are with Karleen Heong’s teaching methods, and the more you enjoy them, the more likely it is that Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch will be a good fit for you.

(P.S.: We strongly encourage you to seek out some free instruction from Karleen Heong before purchasing this course, since it’s one of the best ways to determine whether GMCMMFGFS will be helpful for you.)

Are “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch” reviews generally positive?

On the bottom of the GMCMMFGFS page, you can read student reviews of the class.

Prior to April 24, 2026, there were 8,367 students enrolled, 2,957 reviews / ratings, and it was overall rated 4.5 out of 5.

Obviously, the more highly other students rate GMCMMFGFS the better, but no matter what, keep an open mind when reading the reviews, since you might still like a course a great deal that other students dislike.

After all, everyone’s got their own opinion.

We recommend that you spend only a couple minutes scanning the GMCMMFGFS reviews to get an overall sense of them. You don’t have to read each one!

Is Karleen Heong responsive to student questions in the GMCMMFGFS training?

You can see what other students have to say about this in their GMCMMFGFS reviews.

But, our simple all time favorite way of gauging an instructor’s responsiveness is to simply email the instructor and see if or how they respond.

In this case, Udemy has a messaging system for students / anyone who has an account, and you can send Karleen Heong a message through this system quite easily, even if you haven’t bought GMCMMFGFS yet.

For example, you could say, “Hi, and I came across GMCMMFGFS while looking at Music courses on Udemy. If I enroll in your training, would you mind if I asked you any questions along the way?”

If you use this approach, the response (or lack of response) from the professor will tell you everything.

Obviously, the quicker the response the better!

Are you comfortable going through the lessons in Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch on your own, online?

This is a big one, because Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch is an online course as opposed to a course that you physically take in a classroom.

Of course, you will need a good internet connection to have access to the course material and lessons, but beyond that, you also have to be comfortable being self motivated to some degree, being on your own, and not having any physical interaction with any of the other students taking Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch.

Yes, you will be able to interact with the students and the teacher, Karleen Heong, online, but it’s a different kind of experience than what you’d get if you were interacting with them in person.

This is not a big deal to most people, but it might be something for you to consider if you feel like you do better taking classes in person rather than learning online.

Do the pros / benefits of GMCMMFGFS make it worth your time?

Ideally, if you’ve gone through the evaluation steps above, you have a list of positive things about the Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch training that looks something like this:

  • The purpose of GMCMMFGFS can be clearly grasped and understood, and its lesson structure is clear, specific, and well organized
  • Karleen Heong is well qualified to teach this subject matter, has good teaching abilities, and is responsive to student questions
  • Other GMCMMFGFS students have great things to say about the program

Other benefits include:

  • You get to go through GMCMMFGFS at your own pace
  • You join a community of 8,367 other students taking the course
  • You get lifetime access to the training
  • All updates to the training are free
  • You have a 30 day money back guarantee

Even if there are some things that you don’t like about the program, so what?

The question is simply this: do you think that GMCMMFGFS would be worth your time, even if there are some things that could be better about it?

Can you comfortably afford GMCMMFGFS?

Can you comfortably afford the cost of Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch?

This is an important question to answer, because even if you think GMCMMFGFS sounds like the greatest online class in the world, it’s still not worth taking if you can’t comfortably afford it!

Before April 24, 2026, the price was $12.99 before any Udemy discount, and you were able to pay with a credit card.

Keep in mind that this is a Udemy online course, and there’s a great chance that you can get a solid discount on GMCMMFGFS with Udemy coupons / promo codes, especially with the strategies we provide for helping you find the best, most popular coupons available.

We’ll cover that in greater detail in the next section, because at the end of the day, its important that you can learn whatever you want to learn without getting into a lot of credit card debt.

How can you maximize your discount on Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch?

By far, the easiest way to get the best and biggest discount on this course is to use the Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch discount code link at the top of this page.

It will instantly give you the best coupon code we could find for Karleen Heong’s online training.

We don’t believe there’s a bigger discount than the one we provided, but if for some reason you’d like to try find one, you can use the methods below to hunt for the best GMCMMFGFS course coupons and promo codes you can find.

FYI, the methods below will help you not just with getting GMCMMFGFS for a better price, but also with any other Karleen Heong Udemy course that you’d like to get for cheaper.

How can Google help you get a GMCMMFGFS discount?

To use this method, do a Google search for the GMCMMFGFS training, but in your search query, be sure to add words like coupon code, promo code, deal, sale, discount, and Udemy.

For example, you might do a search for “Udemy Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch promo code” or “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch udemy coupon codes” and see what turns up.

Similarly, you can use the same combination of search terms with Karleen Heong’s name and see what happens.

For example, you might do a Google search for “Karleen Heong Udemy coupons” or “Karleen Heong course coupon codes” and see if that helps you.

However, in general, it’s far more powerful to do a search for deals and coupon codes with the actual training’s name, than with the instructor’s name.

So in this case, for example, prioritize searches for “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch coupons” rather than “Karleen Heong coupons”.

How can a Udemy sale get you GMCMMFGFS for cheaper?

Every once in while, Udemy will do a sitewide sale where they offer all (or almost all) their courses at a discounted price. For example, one of the best sales is where every course is only $10 or $9.99.

So, if you’re interested in saving as much money as possible, you could wait and see if you can get GMCMMFGFS for this cheaper Udemy sale price one day.

The problem is that these sales only occur sporadically, so you might be waiting for a while. Also, if Karleen Heong decides not to participate in the site wide sale, then you won’t get a discount on GMCMMFGFS, even though you could get a great discount on almost any other class at Udemy!

To understand this, think of there as being two different coupon categories for the GMCMMFGFS course.

How can you get a GMCMMFGFS discount from Karleen Heong?

If you’re really serious about getting “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch” for the cheapest price possible, then perhaps one of the most powerful things you can do is get a coupon code straight from Karleen Heong, instead of waiting for a Udemy sale.

To do this, you can use either the direct approach or an indirect approach to try to get your discount.

With the direct approach, the big idea is to simply get Karleen Heong’s contact info in some way or another (whether it’s email, or Twitter, or whatever else).

Then you send a message saying something like “I’m interested in enrolling in Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch. Do you happen to currently have an active coupon code for it that I could use?” (And then, hopefully, you’ll get a reply with your discount code.)

On the other hand, with the indirect approach, you join Karleen Heong’s mailing list, if you can find it, and then you hope that at some time GMCMMFGFS will be promoted to you at a discount.

By far, the more powerful approach is the direct approach, because it tends to get results faster. But you can experiment with the indirect approach and see if it works for you.

Can you get GMCMMFGFS for free?

Of course, the best possible price for the GMCMMFGFS training is free! As in, you pay no money whatsoever.

And guess what? Sometimes Udemy instructors provide coupon codes that enable students to take their courses for free. So, perhaps it’s possible that Karleen Heong has done this.

Basically, if you’re trying to get this program for free, you will want to search for the course’s name along with other words like free coupon, or 100 off coupon.

For example, you might do a google search for “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch free coupon” or “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch 100 off coupon” and see what happens.

But keep this in mind: often, Udemy teachers will offer a free coupon for their course when it first opens to get some publicity and reviews. And then, after a few days, they’ll make the coupon expired.

So even Karleen Heong has offered free coupons for GMCMMFGFS in the past, the odds are likely they will all be currently expired. This is a common pattern that we have found.

What about a GMCMMFGFS free download?

It’s important to understand that there’s a difference between getting full access to the GMCMMFGFS training for free legally with a free coupon code vs. finding a way to download GMCMMFGFS illegally.

If you really want to go the download route, you can do a google search for something like “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch download”.

And if that doesn’t get you the results you want, you can add the word “free” to your search.

For example, perhaps you could do a google search for “Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch free download”.

However, even if you get some results from these searches, we do not recommend that you take this course of action.

First of all, there are some shady sites out there that could be trying to infect your computer.

Second, Karleen Heong created this course and deserves monetary compensation for it.

And third, if you go the free download route, you’ll be missing out on a lot of value, because you won’t be able to ask the instructor questions or interact with the other 8,367 students enrolled in the program.

Can you get a refund on Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch if you don’t like it?

Let’s say that you used our tips above, and you were able to buy the GMCMMFGFS training at a fantastic discounted price. So at this point, you’re super excited.

Then, you actually dive into Karleen Heong’s course, and you discover that it just isn’t for you for whatever reason.

And now you’re super bummed, because you feel like it wasn’t money well spent.

Well, guess what?

Udemy offers a rock solid 30 day money back guarantee on all their courses, so you can get a refund on GMCMMFGFS no matter what. And this means there is absolutely no risk.

Indeed, even if you left a super negative, critical review on the GMCMMFGFS training, and then asked for your money back, you’d get a refund. For better or worse, there’s nothing Karleen Heong could do about it, since it is simply Udemy policy.

To sum it up: yes, you can get a full refund, so at the end of the day, don’t worry about the possibility of purchasing GMCMMFGFS and not liking it, since you can always get your money back.

What is OCP’s overall rating of Game Music Composition: Make Music For Games From Scratch?

During this GMCMMFGFS review, you’ve learned about some of the unusual ways we like to evaluate courses, such as with The 30 Second Test and The 15 Second Bio Test.

So our overall review process is perhaps a little unusual and different from other reviews out there. Keep this in mind when you consider the overall rating / score that we have given this course.

Anyway, after taking a look at the GMCMMFGFS training, the instructor, Karleen Heong, and reading what other students have said about this program, we give it an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5.

Ultimately, though, what matters most is what you would rate it based on the same criteria.

So take just a few seconds to read the opening lines down below and see what you think of them.

Opening lines of Jason Allen’s official description of MTCP6-SC

For years I’ve been teaching Music Theory in the college classroom. These classes I’m making for Udemy use the same syllabus I’ve used in my college classes for years, at a fraction of the cost. I believe anyone can learn Music Theory – and cost shouldn’t be a barrier.

Recently I was named as a semi-finalist for the Grammy Foundation’s Music Educator of the Year award because of my in-person university classes. Now I’m taking those classes to Udemy in an online format in order to reach more students, and give them the joy of Music Theory.

My approach to music theory is to minimize the memorization. Most of these concepts you can learn by just understanding why chords behave in certain ways. Once you understand those concepts, you can find any scale, key, or chord that exists. Even invent your own.

As always, we encourage you to listen to your gut instinct, which is different for every student.

Are the MTCP6-SC lessons clear, specific, and organized well?

Part of the (good) problem with Udemy’s online courses, such as the Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition course, is that the instructors are constantly updating them, including adding and renaming lessons.

So it makes no sense whatsoever for us to list out all the modules and lessons in the MTCP6-SC course here, because you can just as easily go to the Udemy course page and get all the up to date course structure as of right now.

We do, however, have some tips about reviewing Jason Allen’s course structure, so that you can get a better sense of whether this program is worth your time or not.

In a nutshell, you want to scan the the titles of the different sections and lessons of the course, and verify that they are clearly relevant to the course’s name, Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition, as well as the course’s subtitle, Mastering 18th Century Counterpoint and SATB Composition with College-Level Music Theory.

If the section names and lessons are clear, specific, and relevant, then it’s a good sign that MTCP6-SC is potentially a good, useful course for you, and you can have more confidence in Jason Allen’s teaching abilities and lesson planning.

On the other hand, if the module names are confusing, vague, or irrelevant, then this is a red flag, which might indicate that the program is worth skipping.

Have you taken some free lessons from Jason Allen that you enjoyed?

Have you already learned something from Jason Allen that you valued or enjoyed?

For example, does the Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition training have some free lessons that you can try? (Almost all Udemy instructors will give you at least one or two lessons for free to help you make a better, more informed decision before enrolling in their course.)

But if you weren’t able to get any MTCP6-SC lessons for free, have you perhaps watched a YouTube video by Jason Allen, or perhaps come across this instructor’s thoughts on Quora, Facebook, LinkedIn, Github, Reddit, or some other platform?

Or have you perhaps even taken one of Jason Allen’s free courses or free webinars? (Many online teachers offer these freebies, which is a great way to get to know them and evaluate their teaching methods before buying one of their courses.)

In any case, the more familiar you are with Jason Allen’s teaching methods, and the more you enjoy them, the more likely it is that Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition will be a good fit for you.

(P.S.: We strongly encourage you to seek out some free instruction from Jason Allen before purchasing this course, since it’s one of the best ways to determine whether MTCP6-SC will be helpful for you.)

Are “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition” reviews generally positive?

On the bottom of the MTCP6-SC page, you can read student reviews of the class.

Prior to April 24, 2026, there were 70 students enrolled, 32 reviews / ratings, and it was overall rated 5 out of 5.

Obviously, the more highly other students rate MTCP6-SC the better, but no matter what, keep an open mind when reading the reviews, since you might still like a course a great deal that other students dislike.

After all, everyone’s got their own opinion.

We recommend that you spend only a couple minutes scanning the MTCP6-SC reviews to get an overall sense of them. You don’t have to read each one!

Is Jason Allen responsive to student questions in the MTCP6-SC training?

You can see what other students have to say about this in their MTCP6-SC reviews.

But, our simple all time favorite way of gauging an instructor’s responsiveness is to simply email the instructor and see if or how they respond.

In this case, Udemy has a messaging system for students / anyone who has an account, and you can send Jason Allen a message through this system quite easily, even if you haven’t bought MTCP6-SC yet.

For example, you could say, “Hi, and I came across MTCP6-SC while looking at Music courses on Udemy. If I enroll in your training, would you mind if I asked you any questions along the way?”

If you use this approach, the response (or lack of response) from the professor will tell you everything.

Obviously, the quicker the response the better!

Are you comfortable going through the lessons in Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition on your own, online?

This is a big one, because Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition is an online course as opposed to a course that you physically take in a classroom.

Of course, you will need a good internet connection to have access to the course material and lessons, but beyond that, you also have to be comfortable being self motivated to some degree, being on your own, and not having any physical interaction with any of the other students taking Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition.

Yes, you will be able to interact with the students and the teacher, Jason Allen, online, but it’s a different kind of experience than what you’d get if you were interacting with them in person.

This is not a big deal to most people, but it might be something for you to consider if you feel like you do better taking classes in person rather than learning online.

Do the pros / benefits of MTCP6-SC make it worth your time?

Ideally, if you’ve gone through the evaluation steps above, you have a list of positive things about the Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition training that looks something like this:

  • The purpose of MTCP6-SC can be clearly grasped and understood, and its lesson structure is clear, specific, and well organized
  • Jason Allen is well qualified to teach this subject matter, has good teaching abilities, and is responsive to student questions
  • Other MTCP6-SC students have great things to say about the program

Other benefits include:

  • You get to go through MTCP6-SC at your own pace
  • You join a community of 70 other students taking the course
  • You get lifetime access to the training
  • All updates to the training are free
  • You have a 30 day money back guarantee

Even if there are some things that you don’t like about the program, so what?

The question is simply this: do you think that MTCP6-SC would be worth your time, even if there are some things that could be better about it?

Can you comfortably afford MTCP6-SC?

Can you comfortably afford the cost of Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition?

This is an important question to answer, because even if you think MTCP6-SC sounds like the greatest online class in the world, it’s still not worth taking if you can’t comfortably afford it!

Before April 24, 2026, the price was $12.99 before any Udemy discount, and you were able to pay with a credit card.

Keep in mind that this is a Udemy online course, and there’s a great chance that you can get a solid discount on MTCP6-SC with Udemy coupons / promo codes, especially with the strategies we provide for helping you find the best, most popular coupons available.

We’ll cover that in greater detail in the next section, because at the end of the day, its important that you can learn whatever you want to learn without getting into a lot of credit card debt.

How can you maximize your discount on Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition?

By far, the easiest way to get the best and biggest discount on this course is to use the Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition discount code link at the top of this page.

It will instantly give you the best coupon code we could find for Jason Allen’s online training.

We don’t believe there’s a bigger discount than the one we provided, but if for some reason you’d like to try find one, you can use the methods below to hunt for the best MTCP6-SC course coupons and promo codes you can find.

FYI, the methods below will help you not just with getting MTCP6-SC for a better price, but also with any other Jason Allen Udemy course that you’d like to get for cheaper.

How can Google help you get a MTCP6-SC discount?

To use this method, do a Google search for the MTCP6-SC training, but in your search query, be sure to add words like coupon code, promo code, deal, sale, discount, and Udemy.

For example, you might do a search for “Udemy Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition promo code” or “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition udemy coupon codes” and see what turns up.

Similarly, you can use the same combination of search terms with Jason Allen’s name and see what happens.

For example, you might do a Google search for “Jason Allen Udemy coupons” or “Jason Allen course coupon codes” and see if that helps you.

However, in general, it’s far more powerful to do a search for deals and coupon codes with the actual training’s name, than with the instructor’s name.

So in this case, for example, prioritize searches for “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition coupons” rather than “Jason Allen coupons”.

How can a Udemy sale get you MTCP6-SC for cheaper?

Every once in while, Udemy will do a sitewide sale where they offer all (or almost all) their courses at a discounted price. For example, one of the best sales is where every course is only $10 or $9.99.

So, if you’re interested in saving as much money as possible, you could wait and see if you can get MTCP6-SC for this cheaper Udemy sale price one day.

The problem is that these sales only occur sporadically, so you might be waiting for a while. Also, if Jason Allen decides not to participate in the site wide sale, then you won’t get a discount on MTCP6-SC, even though you could get a great discount on almost any other class at Udemy!

To understand this, think of there as being two different coupon categories for the MTCP6-SC course.

How can you get a MTCP6-SC discount from Jason Allen?

If you’re really serious about getting “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition” for the cheapest price possible, then perhaps one of the most powerful things you can do is get a coupon code straight from Jason Allen, instead of waiting for a Udemy sale.

To do this, you can use either the direct approach or an indirect approach to try to get your discount.

With the direct approach, the big idea is to simply get Jason Allen’s contact info in some way or another (whether it’s email, or Twitter, or whatever else).

Then you send a message saying something like “I’m interested in enrolling in Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition. Do you happen to currently have an active coupon code for it that I could use?” (And then, hopefully, you’ll get a reply with your discount code.)

On the other hand, with the indirect approach, you join Jason Allen’s mailing list, if you can find it, and then you hope that at some time MTCP6-SC will be promoted to you at a discount.

By far, the more powerful approach is the direct approach, because it tends to get results faster. But you can experiment with the indirect approach and see if it works for you.

Can you get MTCP6-SC for free?

Of course, the best possible price for the MTCP6-SC training is free! As in, you pay no money whatsoever.

And guess what? Sometimes Udemy instructors provide coupon codes that enable students to take their courses for free. So, perhaps it’s possible that Jason Allen has done this.

Basically, if you’re trying to get this program for free, you will want to search for the course’s name along with other words like free coupon, or 100 off coupon.

For example, you might do a google search for “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition free coupon” or “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition 100 off coupon” and see what happens.

But keep this in mind: often, Udemy teachers will offer a free coupon for their course when it first opens to get some publicity and reviews. And then, after a few days, they’ll make the coupon expired.

So even Jason Allen has offered free coupons for MTCP6-SC in the past, the odds are likely they will all be currently expired. This is a common pattern that we have found.

What about a MTCP6-SC free download?

It’s important to understand that there’s a difference between getting full access to the MTCP6-SC training for free legally with a free coupon code vs. finding a way to download MTCP6-SC illegally.

If you really want to go the download route, you can do a google search for something like “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition download”.

And if that doesn’t get you the results you want, you can add the word “free” to your search.

For example, perhaps you could do a google search for “Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition free download”.

However, even if you get some results from these searches, we do not recommend that you take this course of action.

First of all, there are some shady sites out there that could be trying to infect your computer.

Second, Jason Allen created this course and deserves monetary compensation for it.

And third, if you go the free download route, you’ll be missing out on a lot of value, because you won’t be able to ask the instructor questions or interact with the other 70 students enrolled in the program.

Can you get a refund on Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition if you don’t like it?

Let’s say that you used our tips above, and you were able to buy the MTCP6-SC training at a fantastic discounted price. So at this point, you’re super excited.

Then, you actually dive into Jason Allen’s course, and you discover that it just isn’t for you for whatever reason.

And now you’re super bummed, because you feel like it wasn’t money well spent.

Well, guess what?

Udemy offers a rock solid 30 day money back guarantee on all their courses, so you can get a refund on MTCP6-SC no matter what. And this means there is absolutely no risk.

Indeed, even if you left a super negative, critical review on the MTCP6-SC training, and then asked for your money back, you’d get a refund. For better or worse, there’s nothing Jason Allen could do about it, since it is simply Udemy policy.

To sum it up: yes, you can get a full refund, so at the end of the day, don’t worry about the possibility of purchasing MTCP6-SC and not liking it, since you can always get your money back.

What is OCP’s overall rating of Music Theory Comprehensive: Part 6 – SATB Composition?

During this MTCP6-SC review, you’ve learned about some of the unusual ways we like to evaluate courses, such as with The 30 Second Test and The 15 Second Bio Test.

So our overall review process is perhaps a little unusual and different from other reviews out there. Keep this in mind when you consider the overall rating / score that we have given this course.

Anyway, after taking a look at the MTCP6-SC training, the instructor, Jason Allen, and reading what other students have said about this program, we give it an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5.

Ultimately, though, what matters most is what you would rate it based on the same criteria.

Brief course description

With 5 Exotic Guitar Scales and How to Use Them Effectively, you won’t just learn new and unique scale positions–you’ll understand how to actually use them in your own guitar playing. Implementing these distinctive sounds will add a new dimension to your sound and give you access to an entirely new landscape of music.

While a background in music theory is welcome, you do not have to understand music theory to take this course, as I emphasize using your ear to recognize characteristic traits of each scale, along with provide a theoretical description for those who would like one.

Each scale includes an in-depth explanation along with an outline of each position of each scale. Original playing examples are also included in each section, so you’ll have the added benefit of learning to create your own licks along with having a foundation to use as a starting point.
